Played a really fun gig last night at UC Lounge. Quite the spiffy little club, that place (sorry to say to some of you negative Yelp reviewers but you’re kind of full of shit). Now that I’ve played around the city a bit it’s always nice to walk into a bar you’re setting foot in and playing for the first time and discover that it’s clean and doesn’t smell like 20 cats used to live in the space.
This is one of the first shows where I didn’t bring an amp and took a chance playing direct into the board with some reverb and delay courtesy of a Zoom G2.Nu. All of these new little portable amps and battery operated multi-effects pedals seem to be coming along at just the right time for me – in MN I didn’t mind lugging my 40 pound amp to shows. Here in NY where I don’t have (or want) a car things are a little different. Other than my guitar everything I needed fit into my handy dandy red toolbox.
Very special thanks to Will Duvall & his friend (sorry Will Duvall’s friend, I have very low new acquaintance name retention), Feather & Ang, Clark, and of course Brynnegan for being such an awesome cheerleading section! Below are some bootleg recordings from the show. I had my fair share of flubs… or as I like to call them “intermittent spontaneous duets with Jack & Coke”, but thankfully was able to recover from each one within a pretty decent amount of time. That’s the fun of live performance; you never know which track the train is going to go down…
