Do islands float or are they gigantic dirt tubes reaching to the ocean floor? If they are dirt tubes, is a potted plant in a puddle an island? If they float, does that make Ivory soap an island? Perhaps, we'll never know.
An island is defined as "a land mass (smaller than a continent) that is surrounded by water".. so yes, a potted plant would qualify as an island. That is unless the plant is the size of a continent. Ivory soap is obviously not made out of land, so sadly, that is not an island.
