A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I lived in what I call the “Real World house”… it was an interesting cast of characters to say the least, even the pets were a little “different”. One week the planets aligned and everybody was out of town but me. After I dumped the last of the roomies off at the airport and finally had the place to myself, I was in complete la-la land and wrote this tune on my Ovation acoustic.

My muse(ic)

For whatever reason, “Airport” became my least favorite song to play during sets, and so did all of my other acoustic tunes after about 10 years of playing them at gigs and weddings. It just wasn’t fun anymore, so I pulled the plug on the acoustic amplifier and called it quits.

Fast-forward 10 years later: Last week I got a wild hair up my arse to plug in and play that music on the Smelecaster and throw some drums in there with it… and BOOM – “Airport” and that glob of music as a whole is finally fun for me again. I’ve tried this in the past but it didn’t click; I think the missing ingredient was the sound of the Telecaster. I think I’ll give the rest of those tunes the same treatment, make an album of it, and play it live. I’m starting to miss performing.

The first album was called Finnegan, and the working title of this one is Finn-Again (see what I did there?) Make like a properly setup guitar and stay tuned…
