Wyatt is still partying down for the new year. He resolved to quit drinking, so he’s been getting fake drunk on mocktails since last night. Even with those, he can’t last two minutes without going through withdrawal. Even though he’s using a non-alcoholic spirit, I wonder Wyatt still seems to make him tipsy? I guess that’s just the holiday spirit getting the best of him.
Happy New Year! I’ve been going through drawing withDraw-al, so I decided to draw a punny for the new year. It didn’t happen in one sitting – it was pretty drawn out; I think it took me a week or two.
So. What will 2026 bring? Did you make any resolutions? Eat better? Eat less? Drink less like Wyatt? I don’t do resolutions, and I don’t do diets. Not because I’m above any of that, I just know I won’t stick to it!

I started tracking what I was eating/drinking and changed my eating habits last July. I don’t consider that a diet – it’s more of a lifestyle change. At this point, I’ve lost over 30 pounds! My weakness has always been chips – both the 1970s TV show with Eric Estrada and Larry Wilcox, and bags of salty crunchy things. My name is Mike, and I’m a Dorito-holic. A Dorito hasn’t passed my lips since last July, and to be honest, the cravings are pretty much gone. The same goes for favorites like Twix & Snickers chocolate bars. I still enjoy eating and drinking fun things, just of better quality, and not as frequently. And I feel a lot better!

In addition to sodium and sugar, another thing I’d like to have less of in my life is doom scrolling. I glanced at the news more than I wanted to in 2025, checking in on headlines multiple times a day, wondering What new train wreck am I missing out on? Maybe when I feel the urge to doom scroll, I’ll reach for my Apple pencil and iPad instead… or even return to my original marker/pencil/paper format. I think that, but once I do it, it’ll be like when I busted out my old 4-track recorder several years ago: I immediately realized how convenient modern technology is and went right back to it. I’d like to have at least enough drawings by 12/31/2026 to make a “year in puns” reel, as I used to do at the end of each year when I was drawing them every day. I’d like to distract myself by writing more, which I’ve been getting a lot better at lately. As a matter of fact, I’m doing it right now!
I’m bad at staying in touch with family, and need to get better at checking in on them. I’d like to drink less, too. Both soda and hooch. I’ve given up chips and candy for the most part, which I never thought I could do, so anything’s possible… but when I try tea or water, it’s just so BORING. I’ve been doing good at slamming a pint or three of water before allowing myself to have any coffee or soda, so I guess that’s a start.
May your 2026 have less of the stuff you don’t want and more of the stuff you do! If you made a resolution and are still sticking to it 12 hours into the new year, look at you go! Just like Dr. Leo Marvin taught Bob: Baby steps.
